3.0 # 19 (Nature)

Ok - I said nature :-) - hope that was sort of in everyones ballpark - or did I dream it??! Its wide open to interpretation and I for one would like to see the corner of the world YOU live in.  I took this photo on 26th May 2011 from the balcony - its one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.  I guess this was before drought struck South Africa. It reminds me of Everlasting Covenants.   Please put your participation into THIS discussion so its all in one place.

    Hi Petru - Yes, i’m very pleased to be back even if i’m still overbooked ! But i’ll find a gap to work on #19. Can’t give up the group ! It’s such a great human adventure and I can assure you, everywhere I show our books people are stunned : so many books of 38 different artists from 15 countries ! Of course I have enlarged the exchanges but i’ve been in our little group from 2012 !
    No I haven’t got the slightest idea yet of what I’m going to do. Maybe when i know the deadline ?
    Even if this blog is quite ’confidential’ I hope we’ll have more participants.

    the only way is to make a post where we write the address, title it -addresses to keep private- and leave it always as a draft, pressing save and not publish. and for the rest of us to see it or add to, we must go into the dashboard and read it from there. i don't know if i expressed it well...

    go to the pannel/page where the list of posts is, it is where you have a quick view of all the posts made and where you go to make a new post, where you also find at the left the tools to navigate the administrative panel of the blog(posts, settings,reading list, etc.). i made one post, addresses to keep private, you will see it. go there write your address and leave the post as a draft, that is don't publish it.

      Petru - no book yet, but eagerly waiting. Svenja - thanks for fab pages for Zine :-)! If anyone else wants to contribute to Mail Art Makes the World Town zine, send 22 signed and numbered postcards to me - prefer handmade!! Cur up olds prints/drawing and rework them. This zinc hsd only 3 editions to go before I close it at 20 editions - thats a long enough run :-)! Copy to all participants XXX P.S. TICTAC's Zine in a Box is also something AMAZING to contribute to.

    Cheryl, the book you got ’Valley of birches’ ... I sent it months ago ! I don’t even remember when ! It was most probably as my part for an exchange. So I wonder if you ever got my #17 about Recycling, colours,... ?? Your very snail post is very very low indeed !
    Patrizia, I think you understood that my screen is definitely not like yours and I can’t do anything else than post comments ! No private inbox, no photos !! It drives me crazy !

My life has been a dizzying, stressful, and ongoing set of problems; fortunately most of them solved for now!     Okay, so we're eight on this journey. Great! I hope people are tracking the comments - I've been very anxious about my books from Endings and Beginnings and have had only Ptrzia confirming she received it. Please people, let me know if and when you receive it. I've been thinking I'd better make a whole new edition of it and resend but if Ptrzia received hers on the 29th of May already, others may have gotten theirs? I'm sure I got all the addresses right.

    Delighted to be included! Are we committed to the usual accordion book and size? Looks to be a good group, and 8 is perfect. My only concern is that my address has changed as I have moved. I read what Patrizia wrote explaining how to send private emails—what I want to do for the address change— and am still confused. To be dealt with later. Finish date is August/September?

      One word about the addresses. I’ve got all Cheryl, Ptrzia, Petru, Svenja, Jac and Stephanie’s addresses if they haven’t changed. Kathleen will give me her new one.
      As you know I have no access whatsoever to any private box or post photos here on this blog, but the exhibition of our Books like stars which is on until June 19th in the south of France has a lot of success once again !!
      Be proud !
      It’s ok for 8 books to send by August/September. Great !

      Martine, I just remembered it took me ages to realise I had to be logged into my gmail account, then open the blog onto the home page, top right will be 'new post'. Click on that and it will take you into the dashboard. Good luck!

    I heard from Svenja - she HASN't received my book and I know Cheryl hasn't and haven't heard from Stephanie Turnbull so assume she hasn't either. I find this weird two people each in the three countries - Ptrzia in Germany got hers, Svenja in Germany didn't. Jac Balmer in the UK got her and Stephanie in the UK didn't. Cheryl in SA didn't, from me also in SA. There's something weird going on. I'm going back to suspecting my local PO - there's a woman working there that's been on my case - had occasion to complain about her once before. There's no way to trace these though so this one is going to be difficult to prove. Oye!!

    As Winston Churchill said when presented with an ugly baby (is there ever such a one?) "it certainly is a baby". As for me, it certainly has been a year! Unfortunately some of the fallout is that all of my books will be late. As to the new address—— I haven't figured out how to post private messages and don't want to post it here as public. I propose that everyone wait until they receive my book with the new address. Or send me your email? Or?

      Kathleen, I think all babies are ugly (for the first few days). All that scaly stuff that has to come of their faces from having lived in water for so long. All wrinkly and red screaming their heads off. Once they've straightened out a bit and filled out somewhat one can start looking at them in hope that they may grow into presentable human beings. :-)

    My address is still the same Cheryl. Not sure what it is worth though. The PO here got robbed the other day - the day I had the Endings and Beginnings replacement books ready to post! I had huge problems of all kinds and the posting of them got delayed again and again.

    I'm about to start on the covers for the Nature series, the interiors are finished. I will also then post these, together with the replacement books of Endings and Beginnings at the end of September. I might have to do it from another town, if the local PO didn't manage to get back on track by then. What fun life is! Such an adventure! Whegh!!

      I have decided to make my own paper and pulp print the imagery so it may take me some time to complete but you will all get a book. Working full time miles away from home is seriously slowing me down

    Posting here because I think this post has notification on for everyone. My post office can't receive mail at the moment, there is no vehicle to bring the post here from the bigger centre. I've had a parcel from Australia sitting there since the 22nd September! Our post office system has gone for a loop. There are rumours it is bankrupt. That means I can't post my books either as they can't be fetched from here by same no-vehicle available! Please hold all books until people have heard from me. The situation may sort itself out. I'm busy racking my brains thinking of an alternative address. Friends in Johannesburg will gladly receive the books but it doesn't solve how I'd get them here, perhaps by courier only. I'm exploring couriers to get the books out of this place out to the wider world. I'll let people know what's for what as soon as I know what to do.

      Stephanie and everyone else - just post as normal to me, we'll just take our chances. It probably will get here eventually. The transport problems between the city and the small town is ongoing but things do go out and come in, even if it takes somewhat longer. I am hoping to get to the next largest centre sometime soonish so to rather post from there. I told Cheryl I hoped to post the other day in last week but turned round at the counter with the books still in hand. I'll let people know as soon as I've posted.

    Hi All. I posted all the books yesterday, the Nature Collab plus the replacement books of Endings and Beginnings. I weighed up various options and posting from my small, dysfunctional little town is as good as any other. One has to trust people no matter what one does and it is almost always a bit fraught. I couldn't get to another centre to post from there. All the towns between here and the city from where things start being a bit better is affected anyway. So on a wing and a prayer there goes the (other) proverbial bread on the water.

    I'd also like to take this opportunity to say I won't take part in these collabs any longer for the above reasons. The logistics of the whole thing has become unmanageable. I also found a gallery interested in my work and am going to concentrate on that from now on.

      I'm quite sad actually! Two more went off to the gallery and am very happy about it! Look forward to hearing ALL the books got delivered this time. I'm now sure the missing books from Endings and Beginnings happened here. I gave this bunch to the postmaster who has been trying to keep his head high about the defunct PO system.

    So glad the books have arrived safely - thanks for letting me know - the only one not in the post is Kathleen's - it will DV be there on Monday. Jac - when I get a book I'll let you know :-)!!!! But I am VERY much looking forward. I have reached Book 552 of an Enyclopedia of Everything, so these will bring me to 560 - a mammoth collection of really special books of which these collaborations have contributed largely. Its very special this bond and work production we all share.

    A special thanks to Petru, Martine and Stephanie. Your books have arrived! To my delight they are wonderful, each expressing a unique aesthetic and talent. Thank you.
    Meanwhile, apologies for being the ghost hiding in the woodwork. My computer has been on the blink, I'm waiting for the arrival of a needed supply for the #19 books, and am dealing with an ear infection. If the rule of three applies, things should improve soon! I hope your patience has not been stretched too far, the #19s are in the works to be finished and mailed asap.

    Jac, your wonderful ’buzzing’ book has arrived safe. Thank you for the story too (I read it on your blog). Of course bees are so important for human life and the allegory is all the more pertinent.

    I have my first book - from Martine - thanks VERY much - its blogged on An Encyclopedia of Everything and here. Thank you all for your commitment to this project - I know its more difficult in this format and I DO check in as I've said before. I think we're a collection of people who realise the value of collaboration and the gift of swapping so even though we are self motivated, I hope we will carry on with this project - how could we possible NOT do No 20???! Even if its two books a year, I think this is all SO worthwhile. I am looking very much forward to more books - and thank you Martine - a real treat XXX

    Jac's and Stephanies and Martine's books received - thanks VERY much - are you keen on another one? I think we should at least do 20 collaborations! It doesn't matter that its only two books a year? Martine had some ideas on Jac's last blog - from memory:
    3.0 # 20 (gold)
    3.0 # 20 (silver)
    3.0 # 20 (China) (I think :-)
    I suggested 3.0 # 20 (???) - that way everyone can do a surprise - let me know and I will start a new blog.
