Ok - I said nature :-) - hope that was sort of in everyones ballpark - or did I dream it??! Its wide open to interpretation and I for one would like to see the corner of the world YOU live in. I took this photo on 26th May 2011 from the balcony - its one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I guess this was before drought struck South Africa. It reminds me of Everlasting Covenants. Please put your participation into THIS discussion so its all in one place.
Speechless! Who needs a pot of gold when there's such wealth of spiritual beauty! Glad you're back. I checked the ning site and it's very much still up and running. Maybe more people can be pulled in from there, or post there as well?
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise ! I popped in and saw your post, Cheryl, and that beautiful view of an exceptional rainbow !
ReplyDeletePlease, count me in for #19 about Nature. I’m sure everyone will find a ’’Natural’’idea !
I’m very pleased to share this project with you all again !x
Apologies for not answering sooner :-) - the notifications are going into trash box for some reason... Great! That makes 3 of us, I've started my background painting already - I'm MUCH more motivated than last year!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to try my hand at eco-printing. I've been inspired by a fellow blogger. It suits my way of work and the smell in the studio after unbundling is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteforgot to check the -notify me-...after admiring you gourgeous photo. nature blesses us with unique views, indeed. count me in for nr.19..no idea of what 'natural' idea i'll come up with, like white parrot press said...:-)
ReplyDeleteyay!! :-)XXX
ReplyDeleteHi Ptrzia and Petru, nice to see that you are in for #19!
ReplyDeleteHi Martine! Nike to see you here too. Have you an idea yet what you're going to do?
DeleteHi Petru - Yes, i’m very pleased to be back even if i’m still overbooked ! But i’ll find a gap to work on #19. Can’t give up the group ! It’s such a great human adventure and I can assure you, everywhere I show our books people are stunned : so many books of 38 different artists from 15 countries ! Of course I have enlarged the exchanges but i’ve been in our little group from 2012 !
ReplyDeleteNo I haven’t got the slightest idea yet of what I’m going to do. Maybe when i know the deadline ?
Even if this blog is quite ’confidential’ I hope we’ll have more participants.
Cheers !
Hi all, I've been pondering 'Nature' all week and I've just realised I hadn't replied yet to say please count me in.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a large project linked to medieval books at the moment so I think my nature will be Herbal inpired
Hello everybody, is it to late to join "Nature"? XX Svenja
ReplyDeleteWelcome Jac and Svenja - of course its not too late :-) - good to have you on board. Shall we make the date for August/September? That way if this goes quickly we can squeeze in another perhaps before December? Let me know - don't forget to push your 'notify me' button X
ReplyDeleteI'm in thank you Petru for the prompt and reminder to check the blog. Would have been gutted if I missed out
ReplyDeleteThought so! Nice to have you on board.
DeleteHi Cheryl - I had Kathleen on the phone and she’s going to join us. She’s just trying to sort out how the blog works !
ReplyDeleteMartine x
Cheryl, Ptrzia, Petru, Jac, Svenja, Stephanie, Kathleen and me ... that already makes 8 ! Nice group !
ReplyDeleteThis time, when we exchange addresses, or check we have them right, I'll make a point of putting them in a file on the computer. In my panic when I wanted to post I couldn't find the list. No one so far received any of my books of Endings and Beginnings?
ReplyDeletenot yet Petru, but i'm confident that it will arrive. as i see with my exchanges with Cheryl. it takes 3/4 weeks usually, it has taken more during strikes, but so far nothing got lost. :-)
ReplyDeleteno, not me either :-)X
ReplyDeleteHi whoever can answer to this : is there an inbox here to send personal messages ? How can we leave our postal adresses privatly then ? Mine hasn’t changed but some others may.??
ReplyDeletethe only way is to make a post where we write the address, title it -addresses to keep private- and leave it always as a draft, pressing save and not publish. and for the rest of us to see it or add to, we must go into the dashboard and read it from there. i don't know if i expressed it well...
ReplyDeleteThanks Patrizia but I can’t see the ’save’ button !! Either I publish or I delete... And what is the ’dashboard’ ?? 😢
ReplyDeletego to the pannel/page where the list of posts is, it is where you have a quick view of all the posts made and where you go to make a new post, where you also find at the left the tools to navigate the administrative panel of the blog(posts, settings, reading list, etc.). i made one post, addresses to keep private, you will see it. go there write your address and leave the post as a draft, that is don't publish it.
ReplyDeleteThat's clever. I hadn't thought of using 'hidden' posts to swop information.
ReplyDeleteThanks Patrizia but I have looked everywhere to find what you said and couldn’t find anything !!on my screen, apart from the comments there isn’t anything else : no tools to navigate the administrative panel ! In fact I can only leave posts and that’s it. I am perplexe !
ReplyDeletehi Martine, i just wrote you an email...
ReplyDeleteTICTAC - hope my gmails are going through... XX. Petru - I AM getting to write to you...Another artist Andrew Swanepoel will be joining us for this collaboration - I am just waiting for him to join the author list. Martine, you won't believe it I opened a book from you called Valley of Birches - when did you send it?? Please remember to press the notify button. Unfortunately my notifications are going into spam I see, BUT glad I popped by here. I'm working on my painting for the spine, will post photos when it looks a little more presentable!
ReplyDeleteI'm worried there's no sign of any of my books having arrived with anyone yet?
ReplyDeleteI've started on the new project. It's an unpredictable process. Each book is going to be individual.
Petru - no book yet, but eagerly waiting. Svenja - thanks for fab pages for Zine :-)! If anyone else wants to contribute to Mail Art Makes the World Town zine, send 22 signed and numbered postcards to me - prefer handmade!! Cur up olds prints/drawing and rework them. This zinc hsd only 3 editions to go before I close it at 20 editions - thats a long enough run :-)! Copy to all participants XXX P.S. TICTAC's Zine in a Box is also something AMAZING to contribute to.
Deletehi Petru...good news for you on this side, i just came back from the post office with your book! a beauty! so much work and beautifully done. many thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Ptrzia! I just saw this notice now. Glad someone received a book! Hope the others will also clock in to let me know.
DeleteCheryl, the book you got ’Valley of birches’ ... I sent it months ago ! I don’t even remember when ! It was most probably as my part for an exchange. So I wonder if you ever got my #17 about Recycling, colours,... ?? Your very snail post is very very low indeed !
ReplyDeletePatrizia, I think you understood that my screen is definitely not like yours and I can’t do anything else than post comments ! No private inbox, no photos !! It drives me crazy !
To everyone : yesterday I put on our books in a new place that is one more exhibition ! How can I send you the photos ??
Maybe I’ll send them to Patrizia who will transfer them ?? ðŸ˜

ReplyDelete'm not expert, i have learnt to 'survive' blogger and Co. but i'm sure there is a way...we just cannot find it. i officially give up now. :-)
ReplyDeleteif everybody else is is agreement, send me the pics and the text and i will be happy to set a post for you.
Martine - that book arrived as well :-)...I think it went around the world before arriving here!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl et al, I am obviously way behind everyone else, but yes, I would very much like to be in on # 19. Probably I am too late? Apologies for this late post. My life has been a dizzying, stressful, and ongoing set of problems; fortunately most of them solved for now! In addition, as Martine wrote ages ago, I haven't quite understood how to work the mechanics of this blog. IF I'm too late for this exchange keep me in line for the next one! Look forward to hearing from you.
ReplyDeleteHello Kathleen - good to hear from you :-). Lets see, I have Stephanie, Jac, Martine, Ptrizia, Petru, Cheryl, Svenja and you so that makes 8 and I think we close it here? I have done my painting which is in a new blog and the books have been cut from it - I get 8 books, so I will close it here. Thanks everyone - I'm looking forward to this one - I'm sure it will be great as usual :-)XX
ReplyDeleteCheryl, you didn't include Andre Swanepoel - is he not taking part in this one then?
DeleteOkay, so we're eight on this journey. Great! I hope people are tracking the comments - I've been very anxious about my books from Endings and Beginnings and have had only Ptrzia confirming she received it. Please people, let me know if and when you receive it. I've been thinking I'd better make a whole new edition of it and resend but if Ptrzia received hers on the 29th of May already, others may have gotten theirs? I'm sure I got all the addresses right.
ReplyDeleteDelighted to be included! Are we committed to the usual accordion book and size? Looks to be a good group, and 8 is perfect. My only concern is that my address has changed as I have moved. I read what Patrizia wrote explaining how to send private emails—what I want to do for the address change— and am still confused. To be dealt with later. Finish date is August/September?
ReplyDeleteHi everybody !
DeleteOne word about the addresses. I’ve got all Cheryl, Ptrzia, Petru, Svenja, Jac and Stephanie’s addresses if they haven’t changed. Kathleen will give me her new one.
As you know I have no access whatsoever to any private box or post photos here on this blog, but the exhibition of our Books like stars which is on until June 19th in the south of France has a lot of success once again !!
Be proud !
It’s ok for 8 books to send by August/September. Great !
Cheers.
Thats wonderful news :-) - you're really making an effort with the books - thanks very much Martine. Petru, no book yet... But don't give up hope - they arrive - eventually!
ReplyDeleteI am desperately trying to find out how i can post photos or anything else but there's nothing on the left (as Ptrzia said), no tools to navigate ! am I the only one ??
ReplyDeleteMartine, I just remembered it took me ages to realise I had to be logged into my gmail account, then open the blog onto the home page, top right will be 'new post'. Click on that and it will take you into the dashboard. Good luck!
DeleteHi Martine. I too can't find any tools left, right or anywhere else. Very frustrating as there seems to be no help button either!
ReplyDeleteMartine I have sent you an email with the picture of the button where you load images. Jac, will send you same image.
ReplyDeleteSorry Kathleen :-) - in fact I will make a blog for this so you can discuss it here for clarity.
DeletePetru, nothing yet. Its hard to believe - the book did not even have a sea to cross to get here!
ReplyDeleteI heard from Jac, she got hers. Still waiting to hear from Svenja and Stephanie. It's the weirdest thing! I nearly suspected the local PO but the books clearly left here so I can let that one go, thank goodness. Boring!!
DeleteI heard from Svenja - she HASN't received my book and I know Cheryl hasn't and haven't heard from Stephanie Turnbull so assume she hasn't either. I find this weird two people each in the three countries - Ptrzia in Germany got hers, Svenja in Germany didn't. Jac Balmer in the UK got her and Stephanie in the UK didn't. Cheryl in SA didn't, from me also in SA. There's something weird going on. I'm going back to suspecting my local PO - there's a woman working there that's been on my case - had occasion to complain about her once before. There's no way to trace these though so this one is going to be difficult to prove. Oye!!
ReplyDeletePetru - no book - I went to the post office this morning as I will be away for 2 weeks. If it arrives (I'm holding thumbs), they will keep it for me.
ReplyDeleteI've already made up my mind to make more of this edition and resend. I have everything ready right here so no problem. I'll let people know when it goes out. I hope your being away for two weeks mean a holiday? Take it easy, whatever it is you're up to! :-)
DeleteSorry for not replying sooner as far as I am aware I have not received your book but I will double check as it seems strange for Jac's to have arrived but not mine
DeleteThanks for clocking in. I'll start on the additional books tomorrow anyway. If you have received yours, then I'll just have more copies for here at home. I give extras away to friends for birthday and Christmas presents.
DeleteHi all. I posted some experiments I'm busy with in the latest collaboration. Regarding the three missing books of Endings and Beginnings, they will go out in this week. There were a few constraints I had to overcome since we last spoke, illness being one of them. Thanks for the patience.
ReplyDeleteI'm just checking - has anyones address changed?
ReplyDeleteI'm checking - its Petru, Stephanie, Martine, Cheryl Ptrzia, Jac, Svenja and Kathleen. I will need Kathleen's new address as I am about to post - please send to my gmail account - thanks :-)(XXX
ReplyDeletemy address is the same. even though i have been out of touch, out of time and out of....out, so i guess i'll also be out of deadline. unfortunately life got very complicated for me this summer. but i will commit to send the books to each. thank you.
DeleteABSOLUTELY no problem at all my friend - this has been an adjustment year for EVERYONE I speak to.
ReplyDeleteAs Winston Churchill said when presented with an ugly baby (is there ever such a one?) "it certainly is a baby". As for me, it certainly has been a year! Unfortunately some of the fallout is that all of my books will be late. As to the new address—— I haven't figured out how to post private messages and don't want to post it here as public. I propose that everyone wait until they receive my book with the new address. Or send me your email? Or?
ReplyDeleteKathleen, I think all babies are ugly (for the first few days). All that scaly stuff that has to come of their faces from having lived in water for so long. All wrinkly and red screaming their heads off. Once they've straightened out a bit and filled out somewhat one can start looking at them in hope that they may grow into presentable human beings. :-)

DeleteHi Petru,
DeleteYou have a point. Mostly newborns look like scrawny chickens, except to their mother. I think WC was trying to be diplomatic. so as not to insult the poor loving mama!
My address is still the same Cheryl. Not sure what it is worth though. The PO here got robbed the other day - the day I had the Endings and Beginnings replacement books ready to post! I had huge problems of all kinds and the posting of them got delayed again and again.
ReplyDeleteI'm about to start on the covers for the Nature series, the interiors are finished. I will also then post these, together with the replacement books of Endings and Beginnings at the end of September. I might have to do it from another town, if the local PO didn't manage to get back on track by then. What fun life is! Such an adventure! Whegh!!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSnap everyone I am also running late but the opposite of Petru, I have covers but no page(s).
DeleteI have decided to make my own paper and pulp print the imagery so it may take me some time to complete but you will all get a book. Working full time miles away from home is seriously slowing me down
Hello dear bookfriends !
ReplyDeleteI’m glad to see that there is some ’life’ here on this blog !
I don’t think we should worry, we’ve known each other in this group for long enough to know that we will all send the books ! We are all reliable people ! So I’ll be late too unfortunately.
PS : My address hasn’t changed.
Posting here because I think this post has notification on for everyone. My post office can't receive mail at the moment, there is no vehicle to bring the post here from the bigger centre. I've had a parcel from Australia sitting there since the 22nd September! Our post office system has gone for a loop. There are rumours it is bankrupt. That means I can't post my books either as they can't be fetched from here by same no-vehicle available! Please hold all books until people have heard from me. The situation may sort itself out. I'm busy racking my brains thinking of an alternative address. Friends in Johannesburg will gladly receive the books but it doesn't solve how I'd get them here, perhaps by courier only. I'm exploring couriers to get the books out of this place out to the wider world. I'll let people know what's for what as soon as I know what to do.
ReplyDeleteI’m not sure the messages I have been posting have actually posted. Think I’ve messed up something technically.
ReplyDeleteI’m on the glueing stage of my books now so hopefully I will be sending them out soon
Stephanie and everyone else - just post as normal to me, we'll just take our chances. It probably will get here eventually. The transport problems between the city and the small town is ongoing but things do go out and come in, even if it takes somewhat longer. I am hoping to get to the next largest centre sometime soonish so to rather post from there. I told Cheryl I hoped to post the other day in last week but turned round at the counter with the books still in hand. I'll let people know as soon as I've posted.
DeleteHi all. As I mentioned to Stephanie, please post to me as normal. I am exploring courier services to get the books out and it is time-consuming. I'll let people know when the books do leave here - one way or another.
ReplyDeleteHi All. I posted all the books yesterday, the Nature Collab plus the replacement books of Endings and Beginnings. I weighed up various options and posting from my small, dysfunctional little town is as good as any other. One has to trust people no matter what one does and it is almost always a bit fraught. I couldn't get to another centre to post from there. All the towns between here and the city from where things start being a bit better is affected anyway. So on a wing and a prayer there goes the (other) proverbial bread on the water.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to take this opportunity to say I won't take part in these collabs any longer for the above reasons. The logistics of the whole thing has become unmanageable. I also found a gallery interested in my work and am going to concentrate on that from now on.
I'm so sorry to read this, Petru! But I can totally understand your decision, hugs from Germany to you
DeleteHey Petru - I really understand the predicament - world wide postage is a dying, limping institution. Mine will be in mail today - I completed the second poetry book to include. Plus - selling ones work 😊 - that's a fabulous thing. So, thank you for all the effort you have gone to for these collaborations 😘
ReplyDeleteI'm quite sad actually! Two more went off to the gallery and am very happy about it! Look forward to hearing ALL the books got delivered this time. I'm now sure the missing books from Endings and Beginnings happened here. I gave this bunch to the postmaster who has been trying to keep his head high about the defunct PO system.
DeleteApart from Kathleen (need an address) I posted everyone’s books yesterday. Petru both your old version and your replacement version of endings and beginnings has arrived within days of each other. I sent you a message through artist books 3.0
ReplyDeleteIncredible! It's getting mysteriouser and mysteriouser! Give the extra Endings and Beginnings away as a xmas pressie - save you some money! One can only laugh and wonder! I emailed Kathleen's address. I'll be in touch. If things improve here I'll be back on board in a flash. Speaking to people here about holding an exhibition of my collection. Will post here if it gets organised.
DeleteHi bookfriends ! I have almost finished my books. Hopefully they will be posted by the end of the week coming.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad Petru’s books aren’t lost !
Is artistsbooks.ning still working ??
Stephanie, in case you can’t get Kathleen’s address, I’ll join it to my book when I send it. I can’t put it here. I used to have your email address but I lost it.
Hi Martine, Yes, the site is still working. I sent Stephanie Kathleen's address via email on there so don't worry. She hasn't answered but she's away a lot. Amazing about the books!!
DeleteHi everybody,
DeleteI posted the books this afternoon at last !
I hope they won’t take 2 months to get to South Africa !
I received Stephanie’s today. Thanks a lot, Steph, for your beautiful and ’very green’ book !
To those who still don’t know that artistbooks.ning is still working, it actually is ! So much easier to communicate. Maybe we could go back there ?
Any news from Cheryl ?
x
Hello - yes, I do come here - just not always on this particular blog - if you see above, people have been posting pics of their things. My books went last week, except Kathleens which will be done tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHello everybody, I'll need two more weeks but I am going to finish the Nature-books" Petru, I got two of you beginnings and endings, two days apart from each other!? Thank you! Shall I send one back to you with my nature-book? Hugs from Svenja
ReplyDeleteStephanie said the same thing! Next Cheryl will clock in saying she got both Endings and Beginnings! The mystery lies at the PO at the town I use, I'm a 100% sure. Keep both Svenja. I look forward to hearing everyone got the Nature book. Only Martine reported receiving one so far.
ReplyDeleteSorry to be a nuisance but I've completely lost the file that had everyones addresses in. Could people please send them to me.
ReplyDeleteI have a contact form on my web site that is secure. The link is
https://jacbalmer.weebly.com/contact.html
Thanks
Jac, I've got your beautiful bee-book yesterday, thank you very much!! XX Svenja
DeleteClocking in :-) - received one book today - Petru - your endings and beginnings - many thanks - I am looking forward to the rest!!!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, i got your bookie today! Thank you!!
DeleteReceived books from Martine and all three from Petru
ReplyDeleteCheryl your book has also arrived! It was waiting for me when I got home from work. Such a great treat after a very long week
ReplyDeleteGot another book, Cheryl’s ! Thanks for that great garden story ! mine is also a garden story !
ReplyDeleteSo now i’ve got 3 beautiful books ! Can’t wait for the others !
Thanks all, I now have everyones addresses so I'll post out the books next week
ReplyDeleteExtra thanks to Cheryl,Stephanie, Petru and Martine whoose books have all arrived. thay are all great. I think this is going to be one of the best collaborations yet
So glad the books have arrived safely - thanks for letting me know - the only one not in the post is Kathleen's - it will DV be there on Monday. Jac - when I get a book I'll let you know :-)!!!! But I am VERY much looking forward. I have reached Book 552 of an Enyclopedia of Everything, so these will bring me to 560 - a mammoth collection of really special books of which these collaborations have contributed largely. Its very special this bond and work production we all share.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone,
ReplyDeleteA special thanks to Petru, Martine and Stephanie. Your books have arrived! To my delight they are wonderful, each expressing a unique aesthetic and talent. Thank you.
Meanwhile, apologies for being the ghost hiding in the woodwork. My computer has been on the blink, I'm waiting for the arrival of a needed supply for the #19 books, and am dealing with an ear infection. If the rule of three applies, things should improve soon! I hope your patience has not been stretched too far, the #19s are in the works to be finished and mailed asap.
Jac, your wonderful ’buzzing’ book has arrived safe. Thank you for the story too (I read it on your blog). Of course bees are so important for human life and the allegory is all the more pertinent.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to have another great collection of books for our Christmas !
Hi, I got 2 new beautiful books today : Svenja’s and Patrizia’s. What a great surprise ! Thanks very much to both of you. I think there’s only Kathleen’s missing and my collection will be complete.
ReplyDeleteGlad the book is there and that you like it! cheers
DeleteHi
ReplyDeleteMe too. Thanks Svenja and Patrizia. Both books are great. Beetroot makes a wonderful ink.
Thanks Jac and for letting me know. yes the "ink" is fab, i used it pure.
DeleteIt must be my lucky day—— beet root and bees! As always, Patriza and Jac,
ReplyDeleteyour books are unique, lovely, and well-made.The tactile collagraph bees and the pure color of the beet juice were a real treat.
Thank you!
2 Updates:
I will be mailing books on Wednesday——at last!
Haven't yet received books from Svenia or Cheryl.
Thanks Kathleen, glad the book arrived and that you liked it! cheers
DeleteMESSAGE from STEPHANIE:
ReplyDeleteHi everyone (well not quite)
I have been trying to post a message in the blog for weeks to say that I have received everyone’s beautiful books apart from Kathleen who I know will be posting books soon. Would one of you be able to re post this on the blog so everyone knows that I am not being rude and that books have arrived safely.
Hopefully I will figure out what I am doing wrong and get it to work.
It’s been another great collaboration
Stephanie
I have my first book - from Martine - thanks VERY much - its blogged on An Encyclopedia of Everything and here. Thank you all for your commitment to this project - I know its more difficult in this format and I DO check in as I've said before. I think we're a collection of people who realise the value of collaboration and the gift of swapping so even though we are self motivated, I hope we will carry on with this project - how could we possible NOT do No 20???! Even if its two books a year, I think this is all SO worthwhile. I am looking very much forward to more books - and thank you Martine - a real treat XXX
ReplyDeleteHi, I’ve been trying to post messages for days but i can’t get through anymore. So this is a test. It doesn’t work on Cheryl’ new page about #20.
ReplyDeleteJac's and Stephanies and Martine's books received - thanks VERY much - are you keen on another one? I think we should at least do 20 collaborations! It doesn't matter that its only two books a year? Martine had some ideas on Jac's last blog - from memory:
ReplyDelete3.0 # 20 (gold)
3.0 # 20 (silver)
3.0 # 20 (China) (I think :-)
I suggested 3.0 # 20 (???) - that way everyone can do a surprise - let me know and I will start a new blog.
Petru, Ptrizia and Svenja - your books have arrived - many thanks -beautiful!!! Ptrizia - your Mail Art Makes the World a Town pages have arrived - your beautiful work inspires!!!! :0)XXXX
ReplyDelete
