DONE!

  1. How beautiful, Petru ! Did you do eco-dyeing ? I hope these books won’t get lost in the post this time !
I won’t be able to make mine before mid october as I am in a rush preparing an exhibition. They should be ready to fly by the end of october.
Of course I’ll be looking forward to receiving one of these beauties as usual ! Any other projects ?

  2. No, it isn't eco-dying. It couldn't get the process to work for me. I inked up petals and leaves with black printing ink and used other plant material and pasted it onto the paper together with some haiku I wrote. And no, I don't have another project in mind at the mo. I sent a message on the ning site to people, looking for Kathleen's new postal address. Do you think you could get it from her and send it to me/us on there? It is too public on here. I can't wait to see what everyone else has come up with. I'll be sending as parcels this time so to make sure nothing gets lost. I can't go through all that again. The replacement books of Endings and Beginnings will go together with the Nature series.

  5. hi Petru, your amazing book has arrived! Thank you!! i am sorry to hear about your troubles with the postal service....i hope somehow we'll keep in touch. Germany seems to have a good postal exchange with SA, as i also received Cheryl's Nature, together with her other envelopes of contributions to my Zine.
i am late with mine but i will send it to you as soon as i finish it!

    there is hope ;-)

  6. Ptrizia - great news - I was starting to give up! As I said in #19 - I have Petru's book endings and beginnings - 1 copy... amazing how if a parcel has to come to another province in the same country it can't get here, but it can fly across the world - life is crazy...! Many thanks Petru - you didn't post the two together? Or have I received the first one?? XX

    1. No Cheryl, I haven't posted the two together. I don't know which one you received. Let me know when you get the Nature book please.

  7. Cheryl’s comment today about whether I posted both Endings and Beginnings at the same time requires a response. I sent all the E&B books simultaneously at the time.
There’s a woman working at the local PO who has it in for me and I have no idea why. When I first started posting books, it being a costly affair, she stopped me in the street one day asking me for money. I obviously refused. I ordered art materials from Johannesburg once and when the parcel arrived she didn’t put the slip in my post box and it was a big to-do to get my parcel. Then there was a strike on which I didn’t realise and needed to send artworks to Johannesburg via speedpost (an overnight service of the PO) – she didn’t tell me and the artworks could not be included in the exhibition they were meant for.
So – there’s been a series of events involving my postage and I blame her for the latest debacle of the books. When I went to post the nature books and replacement E&B’s I confronted her. It was very clear to me that she held some of the E&B’s back. I thought she was curious to see what was in the envelopes and didn’t expect to see them ever again.
When the latest batch went out she must’ve included the ‘lost’ books. Whatever her motivation is I do not want to report her to the postmaster as she could lose her job.
I’m sorry it became necessary for Cheryl to ask pointed questions as to whether I posted both E&Bs at the same time.
The level of scheming it would involve on my part, to send some E&Bs, then make replacement ones and then sending them all together with the nature books, is, quite frankly, so elaborate I wouldn’t have had the energy to think it up. I’ve worked with this group for some years and if I had money problems I would have said so and everyone would’ve understood and would’ve waited.
I had a terrible time with a brother dying, then a close friend of 20 years then a fall out with my family and I got sick and suffered from depression and yes, there were a month or two I couldn’t afford to send the replacement books.
None of it is my fault.
    Regards.

  8. Hey Petru - not once, ever would I have thought any of this was you - never - I was just curious as to why overseas received first (but thats the post office for you...!) and I meant were nature and endings and beginnings posted together - just because mine has not arrived and I very much look forward to it. One should never have to make/send replacement books and the debacle with the post office is evidence of this - the books were never lost - the post office just never sent them. I blogged your beauty on http://an-encyclopedia-of-everything.blogspot.com by the way. AND I think the only one in this group for all the years we have had it to drop the ball is me - there is a set I never sent out at all. I still feel bad about that BUT good news - and I think I started sending - I would like to send 2 poetry books to whoever did not get my contribution to that collaboration - so whichever it was, and whoever you are, please just say here on this blog and I will send.
Lastly, sorry to hear your bad news - life is really difficult at the moment for just about everyone I know - so take care of yourself XXX

  9. Thanks for that Cheryl. One often writes in a hurry and sentences and intentions get jambled. I suffer from unnecessary guilt often. I did send Nature and E&B out together. As to why it went out so quickly from the local PO is a mystery I've no intention to try and solve, just glad that it did. I remember the day of posting they told me the vehicle fetching the post and parcels came by the day before and I gave a look up to heaven in hope and prayer. Perhaps it helped! Glad to hear from you.

    1. I could've given you the benefit of the doubt as well! Heaps of trouble have been piled on my head - some of it you won't believe - and I've been on the defensive for the entire year! Sorry all round.
